EEMI Director for Climate Change Dr. Rachael Jonassen authored a Chapter on Emission Trading Systems in a guidebook entitled “Carbon Pricing and Fossil Fuel Subsidy Rationalization Tool Kit” published by the Asian Development Bank in July 2023.

On September 29, 2023, EEMI officers Dr. Salah Hassan and Dr. Jonathan Deason met with senior World Bank officials to discuss collaboration between the World Bank and EEMI in the area of climate change capacity building, focusing especially on women and youth empowerment.

Environmental And Energy Management Institute Conducts Supply Chain Seminar With CEO Of Europe’s Second-Largest Port

On September 21, the SEAS-based GW Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI) conducted a seminar with Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges (second largest Port in Europe). The event was held in the Lehman Auditorium.

EEMI Awarded Grant By UN Climate Technology Center

In November 2023 the SEAS-hosted GW Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI) was awarded a grant, in partnership with the Korean National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT), to undertake a project involving the development of a national digitalization readiness index to strengthen the capacities of developing countries to address technological challenges and opportunities for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

EEMI Co-Hosts Natural Resources Symposium

On November 15, 2023, the SEAS-Based GW Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI) co-hosted a day long symposium in conjunction with the D.C.-based Environmental Law institute and the Industry Natural Resource Management Group.

EEMI Director Of Sustainable Energy Chairing Major Solar Energy Conference At GW

Professor Scott Sklar, Director of Sustainable Energy in the GW Engineering-hosted GW Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI), is serving as the General Chairman of the 2024 Annual Conference of the American Solar Energy Society, founded in 1956. This major event, entitled “ASES National Solar Conference, SOLAR 2024: Connecting Technology & Policy” will be held at GW on May 20-23, 2024.

EEMI Wins CDRF Research Grant

In September 2023, four faculty members of the SEAS-hosted Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI) were awarded a research grant from the University’s Cross-Disciplinary Research Fund (CDRF).
