EEMI Conducts Meeting with European Commission Director-General for Energy

On January 27, 2022, EEMI faculty met with European Commission Director-General for Energy Ditte Juul Jorgenson and other European Commission officials to discuss a partnership between GW and the European Commission to promote worldwide sustainability, including energy security and response to the global climate change challenge.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the geopolitical context surrounding  Europe's Green Deal and GW’s involvement through the EEMI in that major initiative. It was conducted at the building of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States of America on K Street, N.W., just a block from GW’s Foggy Bottom campus. 

 

 

Participating in the meeting from EEMI were the following individuals:

  • Ambassador András Simonyi, EEMI Visiting Scholar, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Global Energy Center of the Atlantic Council and former Hungarian Ambassador to the United States
  • Dr. Edward Saltzberg, Director of Professional Education, Environmental and Energy Management Institute
  • Dr. Jonathan P. Deason, Co-Director, Environmental and Energy Management Institute and Lead Professor, Environmental and Energy Management concentration in the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering at GW
